Acquisition Analyst

Job Summary:

Looking to hire an Acquisition Landman who is highly organized, self-motivated, and has a strong work ethic. Candidates ideally have 3-5+ years of sales and acquisition experience, including negotiating and closing mineral deals.  

Compensation:

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable with cold calling
  • Proficient in Office365, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong communication skills, especially over the phone and via-email
  • Experience and knowledge of all facets of the oil and gas industry, including mineral rights
  • Understand title requirements regarding the acquisition of mineral ownerships
  • Experience in any of the following basins: Midland, Delaware, Eagle Ford, Haynesville, SCOOP, STACK, and Marcellus

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the acquisition team and other employees in sourcing and acquiring minerals, as needed, and directed by direct report
  • Track and assist due diligence process and curative for pending property acquisitions and sales
  • Update or run title on tracts for mineral acquisition purposes
  • Manage acquisition and sale closing and post-closing processes
  • Update, maintain and manage CRM database for mineral acquisitions and sales

Senior Title Landman

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Title Landman to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, reviewing, analyzing, and reporting ownership of surface and oil and gas mineral interests for acquisition by a successful family office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research County/Parish records to determine surface and oil and gas mineral ownership by utilizing online databases/resources.
  • Research, learn, and implement any available online County/Parish title resources in key acquisition States and basins.
  • Research, monitor, and remain current with developing title standards, statutes, language interpretations, and industry practices in key acquisition States and basins.
  • Monitor and remain aware of all in-house contractual deal due diligence deadlines.
  • Complete thorough in-house title review and prepare a title report deliverable for each deal using the in-house title template.
  • Take initiative to conduct extensive title research outside of the in-house title file for judgments, mortgages, probates, trusts, etc. 
  • Identify when a curative measure could be required to correct/cure a title defect.
  • Work closely with in-house title and legal teams to correct/cure identified title defects.
  • Research and prepare cursory title reports, runsheets, and/or abstracts as needed. 
  • Clearly and effectively communicate, orally or in writing, with internal departments, mineral owners, and company brokers as title concerns or questions arise.
  • Work toward continuous improvement of processes and deliverables by finding efficiencies, making process suggestions, and eliminating opportunities for error.
  • Meticulously organize and file all title documents, leases, and curative in a designated title file for each deal.
  • Meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with shifting timeframes.
  • Communicate daily with direct report(s), update of status of projects, and ask questions as needed.
  • Assist with any reasonable task as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of oil and gas land title experience, preferably in the Permian, Eagle Ford, SCOOP, STACK, and Haynesville basins. 
  • Oil and gas business knowledge and familiarity with oil and gas contract law.
  • Expert understanding of the various types of oil and gas mineral ownership interests.
  • Expert knowledge of mathematical calculations to determine net mineral acres, net royalty acres, and net revenue interests.
  • Ability to understand and summarize judgments, liens, mortgages, probates, and trust documents.
  • Demonstrated experience researching heirship.
  • Demonstrated experience working with metes and bounds descriptions.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated experience using Dropbox.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision and training.
  • Ability to lead, work within, build, and foster a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Title Attorney

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Title Attorney to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, reviewing, analyzing, reporting, and curing ownership of surface and oil and gas mineral interests for acquisition by a successful family office.

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA approved law school.
  • Licensed attorney with State Bar of Texas.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of oil and gas land title experience, preferably in the Permian, Eagle Ford, SCOOP, STACK, and Haynesville basins. 
  • Oil and gas business knowledge and familiarity with oil and gas contract law.

Financial Crude & Products Portfolio Manager

Company Overview:

We are a leading privately held energy firm looking to expand our financial trading portfolio. To spearhead this initiative, we are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to take on the role of Financial Crude & Products Portfolio Manager. This individual will be responsible for building and leading a new trading desk dedicated to the trading of financial energy products, and will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s presence in this market.  

Role Description:

As the Financial Crude & Products Portfolio Manager, you will be tasked with establishing and managing a crude and products trading desk specializing in financial energy products. This position demands an entrepreneurial mindset, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of the energy markets. You will have the unique opportunity to recruit and lead a team of experienced traders and analysts while collaborating closely with various departments within the organization, such as risk management, compliance, and technology.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of energy markets, including electricity, natural gas, crude oil, and related derivatives. Identify and assess trading opportunities and potential risks to develop effective trading strategies.
  • Team Building and Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of skilled traders and analysts. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the trading desk to achieve profitability and growth targets.
  • Trading Operations: Execute financial energy trades, monitor market positions, and optimize trading strategies to achieve desired outcomes. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management protocols to effectively mitigate exposure and preserve the firm’s capital. Monitor and assess risk exposure on an ongoing basis.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key market participants, energy companies, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate efficient trade execution and market intelligence gathering.
  • Technology Integration: Collaborate with the technology team to leverage cutting-edge trading platforms, data analytics tools, and algorithms to enhance trading capabilities and decision-making processes.
  • Performance Reporting: Generate regular reports on trading desk performance, P&L analysis, and other relevant metrics to present to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure the trading desk’s activities are fully compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in financial crude and/or products trading with a reputable financial institution or energy company.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of energy markets, trading strategies, and derivatives.
  • Proficiency in risk management techniques and financial modeling.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and effectively manage a team.
